Today we are going to look at all the types of female figures discuss their proportions and find out how to make anybody look more beautiful and harmonious with the help of clothes. There are 2 types of women bodies: angular and round.
Angular types are represented either by inverted triangle or rectangular body shapes. The inverted triangle body shape has straight and angular shoulders that are wider than the hips. The waistline is visible, but not accentuated that well because of the narrow hips. The hips also have more of a rectangular, straight shape. The rectangular body shape has straight and angular shoulders. The waistline is barely visible due to the fact that the hips and shoulders are almost the same size. The hips also have more of a rectangular, straight shape.
Round types are represented by oval, round and hourglass body shapes. An oval or a pear body shape has round, sloping and narrow shoulders. The waistline is always well defined. The hips are wider than the shoulders. The bottom and thighs are also full and round. A round or apple body shape has rounded shoulders that have the same width with the hips. The waistline has the same width or is wider. The high hip is wider than the lower hip. An hourglass body shape has round and sloppy shoulders that have the same width with the hips. The waistline is very well defined.
The hips and the bottom are full and round. As you can see, every body shape has different proportions. It’s quite obvious that the hourglass body shape has the most harmonious ones and doesn’t require much correction. The rest of the body shapes might need to use some styling tricks to make their silhouettes more visually proportionate. To create a more proportionate silhouette for the inverted triangle body shape we need to make the difference between the width of the shoulders and the hips less obvious and softer and for that, we have to visually narrow the shoulders and slightly widen the hips.
Pear body shape
A pear body shape is the opposite of the inverted triangle meaning that whatever works for the triangle body shape will be awful for the pear and another way around. To create a better silhouette for the pear body we also need to make the difference between the shoulders and the hips softer and less obvious. But this time we have to visually widen the shoulders and narrow the hip line. A rectangular body shape has proportionate shoulders and hips so we don’t need any correction here. But what we could do is to make the silhouette less flat more feminine and curvier.
For that, we have to visually add a little bit more volume to the upper body and hips and define the waistline better. A round body shape is the opposite of the rectangular one. That’s why it needs a different type of correction. Here we need to narrow and elongate the upper body and harmonize it with the narrow bottom. No matter what your body shape is to create better proportions you need to work with both the upper and bottom part of your body at the same time. It’s not enough to just find the perfect skirt or pair of trousers because if you match it with the wrong top, you will not see any difference.
